Elias Agsteribbe was six years old when he heard a contrabassoon at the Antwerp College of Music, where his father taught. At that time, he decided to become a bassoonist. Three years later, he started playing the bassoon and was taught by Koen Coppé (solo bassoonist of the Flemish Symphony Orchestra), Pieter Nuytten (solo bassoonist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra) and Graziano Moretto (Antwerp Philharmonic). Since 2014, Elias has also taken contrabassoon lessons with Filip Neyens, soloist of the Belgian National Orchestra.
The young bassoonist is first prizewinner of the international competition for bassoon in Amsterdam. He has played in various youth orchestras in Belgium: Forza Musica in Gent, JeMOO in Gent and JEMOA in Antwerp with whom he has given concerts in Belgium, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary and Denmark.
Elias is currently studying with Giorgio Mandolesi (bassoon) and Hans Agreda (contrabassoon) at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.
