Iago Dominguez Eiras
Iago was born in 1995 in Santiago de Compostela. He began playing the cello at the age of five and was taught by Bárbara Switalska, among others. In 2017 Iago graduated with distinction from the Basel University of Music under Prof. Ivan Monighetti and Sol Gabetta. He is currently continuing his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel.
In 2007 Iago won the David Russell International Competition and recorded his first CD with Radio Galicia. In 2012 he made his debut with the Real Filharmonía de Galicia and was also a member of the Galicia Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2014 he joined the Galician Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of Dima Slobodenjouk.
Iago has performed at various festivals, including the Gstaad Menuhin Festival twice and the Cello Biennale Amsterdam Festival in 2016.
As a scholarship holder of various foundations, including the International Academy of Music in Lichtenstein, he regularly participates in their courses and studies.
The cellist plays a cello built by Emile Laurent in 1910, which is provided to him by the Boubo Music Foundation.
The board of trustees of the Rahn Kulturfonds meets twice a year and will consider all fully completed applications received.

The Rahn Kulturfonds supports requests regarding a contribution to the performance fees if:
- it is a project with or by Rahn Kulturfonds prize winners.
- it is a project with Rahn Kulturfonds scholarship holders.
The Rahn Kulturfonds supports its prize winners and scholarship holders during four years after receiving the award.
