Leonid Baranov was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1994. At the age of five he started to take violin lessons. He attended the State Conservatory music school in St. Petersburg, where he was educated by A. Skliarskaya. Baranov is currently studying in the classes of Pavel Vernikov and Svetlana Makarova at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne.
Since the age of 15, the young violinist has been performing with symphony orchestras in various cities in Russia as well as in Europe, Asia and the USA. Concert halls such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, Hong Kong City Hall, the Israeli Opera House in Tel Aviv, the Incheon Performing Arts Center in South Korea, the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg and Carnegie Hall in New York are well known to him.
Leonid Baranov has been able to work with renowned musicians and conductors such as Vadim Gluzman, Itamar Golan, Evgeny Sinaiski, Victor Yampolsky and Colin Metters.
The board of trustees of the Rahn Kulturfonds meets twice a year and will consider all fully completed applications received.

Rahn Kulturfonds supports requests regarding a contribution to the performance fees if:
- it is a project with or by Rahn Kulturfonds prize winners.
- it is a project with Rahn Kulturfonds scholarship holders.
Rahn Kulturfonds supports its prize winners and scholarship holders during four years after receiving the award.
