Mari Tada was born in 1984 in Kobe (JPN) and received her first piano lessons at the age of 3. She was taught by Nawomi Ishii until the age of 18 and then studied with Prof. Akiyoshi Sako at Tokyo University of Arts, where she entered the Master’s program in 2007. In the same year she gave a solo recital and performed as a soloist with piano concertos by Mozart, Grieg and Saint-Saëns. She continued her studies in the Master of Arts in Music Performance program with Prof. Hans-Jürg Strub at the Zurich University of Arts and was admitted to the Specialized Music Performance program in 2011. In Japan she won gold in the PTNA Piano Competition, first prize in the Hyogo Competition and second prize in the Kazusa Academy Competition. In Switzerland she took third place in the Rahn Music Competition. Since 2011 she enjoys a scholarship from the Japanese Meiji-Yasuda Foundation.
