Min Ji Kim
Min Ji Kim was born in 1995 in Incheon (South Korea) and began playing the cello at the age of six. She studied at the Seoul Arts High School and later at the Korea National University of Arts with Myung-Wha Chung.
Since 2014 Min Ji Kim has continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel with Ivan Monighetti and Sol Gabetta.
The cellist has won prizes at many international music competitions and won the Concours d’interprétation musicale de Lausanne in 2017. In 2018 she won the 2nd Rahn Music Prize for String Instruments and the 2nd Prize of the International Paulo Cello Competition in Helsinki. The cellist won the Frans-Helmerson Prize of the Kronberg Academy as well as the Migros Culture Percentage Study Prize. Min Ji Kim has been a Rahn Kulturfonds scholarship holder since 2018.
The cellist has performed with many orchestras, including the Incheon Philharmonic and the Suwon Philharmonic from South Korea and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist and chamber musician, Min Ji Kim has given concerts in Europe and Asia.
The board of trustees of the Rahn Kulturfonds meets twice a year and will consider all fully completed applications received.

The Rahn Kulturfonds supports requests regarding a contribution to the performance fees if:
- it is a project with or by Rahn Kulturfonds prize winners.
- it is a project with Rahn Kulturfonds scholarship holders.
The Rahn Kulturfonds supports its prize winners and scholarship holders during four years after receiving the award.
