Salauat Karibayev was born in 1995 in Karaul in Kazakhstan. He began his cello studies at the age of nine at the Music School for highly skilled children in Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, in the class of Professor Aijan Dzulmuhamedova. Since 2016 Karibayev studies at the College of Music Geneva-Neuchâtel in the class of Professor Denis Severin. The cellist has participated in several master classes given by Professors Raphaël Pidoux, Augustin Lefebvre, Troels Svane and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt and has already celebrated his first major competition successes. In 2017 he won the first prize of the international cello competition “ProArt” in the Ukraine. In January 2018, Salauat Karibayev was awarded with the first prize for Violoncello at the Rahn Musikpreis 2018 for strings.
The board of trustees of the Rahn Kulturfonds meets twice a year and will consider all fully completed applications received.

The Rahn Kulturfonds supports requests regarding a contribution to the performance fees if:
- it is a project with or by Rahn Kulturfonds prize winners.
- it is a project with Rahn Kulturfonds scholarship holders.
The Rahn Kulturfonds supports its prize winners and scholarship holders during four years after receiving the award.
