The Rahn Kulturfonds was founded to promote and award outstanding students of swiss music conservatoires and academies.
Rahn Musikpreis was established in 1976 in order to promote students of Swiss conservatories and music academies. The competition is organised by Rahn Kulturfonds and takes place every two years, alternately for piano and stringed instruments. The prize winners have the opportunity to appear as soloists at the grand hall of the Tonhalle Zurich (as of 2018 for the first time at the Tonhalle Maag), accompanied by a renowned orchestra. Subsequently, the prize winners receive other prestigious performance opportunities, one of them being the Rahn Concert Continuo.
